Recently I was asked to help build 10 billy carts for a youth group event.
I laughed when the text I received included a link to the original billy cart project of ScitechWA.
ScietechWA\'s Instructure is a good reference when doing this project.
This Instructure is a mix contest for getting started.
The main \"mixing\" here is that the steering is hinged, which means that the axle turns in the opposite direction.
This makes the turning radius tighter.
It also uses office chairs instead of plywood seats.
The biggest challenge is the number of carts that need to be built.
I\'m not quite sure I can get all the parts I need without a special order.
Luckily I was able to get everything here.
The biggest victory was the 10 office chairs at the county auction.
It costs 60 cents per piece!

You have to cut 5 times in total from two 2x4.
Be sure to wear safety glasses.
These are all important, so I decided to let them go their own way.
Steering stops are never part of the plan, however, we added them after the first trial run.
At high speed, people tend to overdo

This led them to turn over the car.
As teenagers will do so, they may be more active in turning.
I put a clip on my radial arm saw to keep the measurement 8 inch and set the angle to 13 degrees.
When I first cut it, I turned it over and cut it again.
This gives me a pivot point centered around the stop loss point.
These stops still allow them to lift the wheel from the ground, but there is less chance of flipping.
For the size and general position of the hole, see the first picture.
If you use an office chair, you must adjust the size of the chair.
It\'s really helpful to have a drill press.
It also helps to clamp the parts while using the shovel bit.
If you don\'t have a drill press, I will screw the seat bracket onto the main rail and drill holes for the seat column.
This should make the holes between the two pieces of wood better arranged.
I placed a 12 \"seat from the rear edge of the main rail.
This gives them enough space to jump on the back axis if anyone wants.
The chair must be removed from the base.
Wear safety glasses because you will remove the clip that can fly.
To do this, first remove the clip from the base of the chair.
Next, you need to pry open another clip and remove the piston from the main post.
After removing the piston, cut the column down to 4/1/2 \".
This is one of the two anchor points of the chair.
Next, pry open the tension knob with a large wrench.
This requires some elbow grease.
Finally, remove the lever.
I had to cut a plastic clip to make it free in order to do this.
To get into the plastic clip, I have to remove the plastic cover from the bottom of the chair.
Cut the pipe to 43 \".
I used a tree planting machine to break the end, but you can do the same with a hammer.
Hit 2 inch on both sides of the pole.
Make sure the flat parts of the pipe align with each other.
Drill a 3/16 hole at each end.
First of all, I went to the metal supply department of hardware store.
They have such metal rods, but only four or five. I needed 20!
I ended up buying 8\' copper coated ground bar for $12. 00.
It\'s almost as important as a separate metal stick, but I can cut three axles from one.
I cut these to 30 \"with a saw \".
Then, I drilled 3/16 holes at each end and filed any burrs.
The tire is placed on the rod and the cotter pin is placed in place.
The wheels are a bit shaking for them, but it\'s not bad and I need to find a spacer for the extra race.
The main frame track is located at the top of the shaft bracket.
Install bolts and washers as shown in the figure.
Tighten the bolts while keeping the axle moving freely.
Take the part of the chair post you cut down and use it to align the seat post with the frame track.
Once both pieces are lined up, they are screwed together.
The cutting part of approximately 1 inch long vinyl tubing.
Then cut them so they can be placed around the bar.
Screw them in place with 1/5/8 \"wooden screws.
When you do this, use the steering stop while Jack is standing.
Align the axles with frame rails so they are vertical.
Place the steering link so you can connect each axle from both ends.
Safety is with 1/5/8 \"wood screws.
Leave a gap of about 1/8 between the main track and the station.
When you screw them onto the shaft stand, clamp them.
Cut the 3 feet rope and feed them through the holes at both ends of the shaft holder.
Tie the knots to prevent them from slipping back.
Knots also serve as the rider\'s handle.
Last but not least, put the chair in two holes you drill.
Your car is low now.
